Questions about PoolPreCert

Does the app work with no signal?

Checklist answers and photos you take with no signal wait on your phone and upload when you are back online. You still need to be at the pool to check it.

Is a PoolPreCert report a pool safety certificate?

No. Only a QBCC-licensed pool safety inspector can issue a pool safety certificate. PoolPreCert helps you find problems and fix them before the inspector visits, which can save a second visit.

Is PoolPreCert part of QBCC or the government?

No. PoolPreCert is an independent service. Inspector licence details come from QBCC's public register.

Can the app tell me my pool complies?

No. The app records what you check and photograph, and its photo analysis only flags possible problems. It says when it can't tell, and it never confirms that a pool complies. Only a licensed inspector can.

How are inspectors chosen for the directory?

Every inspector listed was on QBCC's public register of licensed pool safety inspectors (extract of August 2024). Licences renew yearly, so check current status on QBCC's search before you book; claimed listings show the date we last checked. Inspectors are ordered by distance, verified reviews (a verified review comes from a homeowner who booked them through PoolPreCert), and how complete their listing is, such as whether they have confirmed it. Payment doesn't change that order. Where an inspector has linked their Google Maps listing, you'll see their Google rating and a Google Maps button, straight from Google.

What does PoolPreCert cost a homeowner?

There is no charge to create an account or run the self-check. A detailed PDF report is optional: $1.99 incl. GST. See the pricing page for the details.

Are building certifiers listed?

A short page lists building certifiers who registered themselves. A person at PoolPreCert checked each licence number on QBCC's public search before it was shown, and the date is on the listing. It is not an endorsement, and many certifiers are not on it. See who signs off a new pool in our guide.

Do inspectors pay PoolPreCert?

Inspectors who receive inspection requests through PoolPreCert have a monthly membership. There are no per-request fees, and being listed doesn't depend on paying.

What happens to my details if I request an inspection?

Your name, contact details and suburb go only to the inspectors you choose (one, or each one you ask in the sheet after your self-check). Your self-check report is sent only if you tick the box to share it.

Does PoolPreCert use cookies or track what I do?

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. It is not used for advertising. The first time you visit, a small notice asks whether you accept analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics saves analytics cookies on your device. If you say no, it saves none, though Google still receives basic page-view details without cookies. The site works the same either way. You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. More detail is in our Privacy Policy and in the Help Centre article "Cookies and analytics".
