Inspector Directory & Reviews Policy

1. Purpose

This Policy governs PoolPreCert's directory of pool-safety professionals and user reviews.

2. Directory is informational

A directory listing is not an endorsement, certification, accreditation or guarantee by PoolPreCert. Users should independently verify current licensing, scope of work, service area, insurance and suitability. A homeowner can ask a listed business to contact them. This does not mean the business has agreed to anything, has joined PoolPreCert, or will reply, and it is not an endorsement of the business.

3. Professional listings

Professionals may provide information such as business name, contact details, service area, licence information, biography, website and other profile information. PoolPreCert may require reasonable verification before displaying certain information. Listings for professionals who haven't claimed them are built from QBCC's public register and, for some, business details taken by hand from a public page the business publishes itself (its own website or business listing, never a search-engine page); these are labelled as not yet confirmed by the professional, with the date checked, and carry a link to report a mistake or ask for removal.

A listing that has not been claimed can still collect requests that homeowners have made. The professional is told only how many, until it has claimed its listing and its trial or plan includes requests. The number may also be shown on that professional's claim page.

4. Licence information

Each listing shows where its licence information came from and when we last checked it. For pool safety inspectors it is QBCC's public register of pool safety inspectors in the register extract we hold (August 2024); a listing that an inspector has claimed, or that we have checked by hand on QBCC's public search, shows the date of that check. For pool fence contractors and pool builders it is QBCC's licensed contractors register published on the Queensland Government open data portal, which we copy every night; each contractor listing shows the date of the register file it was last checked against. Where that file lists a licence as suspended or cancelled this financial year, we do not show the listing until it has been re-checked. The file does not show a suspension that began in an earlier financial year and is still running, so it is not live QBCC information. PoolPreCert will not represent a person as a Queensland pool safety inspector without a reasonable basis, such as that register or information supplied by the professional.

We do not promise a licence is current after the date shown. Licences are renewed yearly and can change after publication, so check current status on QBCC's own search before engaging anyone.

5. Claimed profiles

A professional may be able to claim a profile. Pool safety inspector claims are always checked by an administrator against QBCC's public licence search before approval. A pool fence contractor or pool builder claim may be approved automatically, without a person, when the licence number is in our nightly copy of QBCC's licensed contractors register file in a class that covers the trade, is not listed as suspended or cancelled this financial year, the business name matches the licensee name on the register, the claimant's email address is verified and the file copy is under 3 days old; in every other case a person checks the licence on QBCC's public search before approval. A claim made through a personal claim link is also pre-checked for an email match (the signed-in person's email must match the claim email and the email we hold for that listing). An administrator can reverse an automatic approval, and a claim that was not approved automatically is checked by a person; you can ask us to look at a claim again at support@poolprecert.com. Claiming a profile does not itself constitute PoolPreCert endorsement.

6. Reviews

Only homeowners whose inspection request the professional marked as booked or done through PoolPreCert can leave a review. Reviews must reflect a genuine experience. Users must not submit fake reviews, reviews for compensation without clear disclosure, reviews based on another person's experience represented as their own, or content that is defamatory, threatening, discriminatory, abusive or unlawful.

A review is labelled “Verified” because it is tied to a request the business marked as booked or done through PoolPreCert; it does not mean PoolPreCert checked the work. Every such customer is invited once, with one reminder five days later, whatever the outcome. Businesses cannot switch invitations off, choose who is invited, or ask customers about their satisfaction before an invitation is sent.

7. Review moderation

Reviews are published straight away and are never removed simply because they are negative. PoolPreCert may remove or restrict a review where it breaches this Policy, applicable law, privacy rights, intellectual property rights, platform security, or where there is credible evidence of manipulation or fraud. We record the reason for every removal and may request evidence or clarification. The professional can reply publicly to a review.

8. No manipulation

Professionals must not buy, manufacture, suppress or manipulate reviews. Incentives for reviews must not be conditional on a positive or negative outcome and must be disclosed where required.

9. Paid placement

If PoolPreCert offers paid placement, sponsored listings or advertising, that commercial relationship will be clearly identified and shown separately from the ordinary results. Payment must not be represented as independent ranking or endorsement.

10. Ranking

Ordinary directory results are ordered by distance, verified PoolPreCert reviews and how complete and verified a listing is (for example, whether the professional has confirmed it and when the licence was last checked). On a suburb page the order is mostly distance (about 45%), then verified reviews (about 35%) and completeness (about 20%); on a council-area page, where there is no customer location, it is reviews (about 60%) and completeness (about 40%). For pool fence contractors, listings that have been claimed and show a pool fence service come first, then the others. Paying PoolPreCert does not change that order. Ranking criteria may change. PoolPreCert does not guarantee that the highest-ranked professional is the best professional for a particular property.

Payment does not change the order of the directory. If you arrive from a business's own website link, we may show that business first on the page after your self-check, marked “You came here from [business]'s website”, with the usual list of nearby licensed businesses underneath. PoolPreCert does not recommend any business.

11. Complaints

Complaints about professionals should first be directed to the professional where appropriate. PoolPreCert may receive complaints about directory content or platform conduct and may take proportionate action. PoolPreCert does not act as a statutory regulator or dispute tribunal.

12. Removal and correction

A professional may request correction or removal of inaccurate profile information through our contact form or at support@poolprecert.com; professionals who have claimed their listing can edit or hide it themselves. We acknowledge correction and removal requests within 2 business days and decide them within 7 days. If you send us a written complaint that a review or a profile is defamatory, saying who you are, where the content is and why you consider it defamatory, we take reasonable steps about access to that content within 7 days of receiving the complaint, and we may hide the content while we check. We may retain reasonable records of changes and verification.

13. User privacy

Users should not include unnecessary personal information in reviews. PoolPreCert may redact information where reasonably necessary to protect privacy or comply with law. See our Privacy Policy.

If you ask a business to contact you before it has joined PoolPreCert, your request waits for up to 60 days and is shared with that business only after it has claimed its listing and its trial or plan includes requests. See the Privacy Policy, section 7A.

14. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, PoolPreCert is not responsible for the conduct or work of a listed professional merely because the professional appears in the directory. Non-excludable legal rights are preserved.

Updated 22 October 2026: clause 3 says where unclaimed listing details come from, clause 4 says which QBCC register each kind of listing comes from, the date shown and that suspended or cancelled licences are not shown, clause 5 describes the automatic approval of some contractor claims against QBCC's nightly register file, clause 6 explains what “Verified” means and that review invitations cannot be switched off, and clause 12 says what we do within 7 days of a written complaint that content is defamatory. Clauses 5, 10 and 12 were corrected on 17 October 2026; first published 8 October 2026.
