How PoolPreCert works
Walk around your pool with your phone, answer each barrier check, and get a report showing what to fix before a licensed inspector visits.
PoolPreCert walks you round your pool on your phone, one check at a time. You answer the main barrier checks a licensed inspector looks at, add photos if you like, and get a list of what looks OK, what needs attention and what you couldn't check. It helps you get ready for the inspector. It doesn't replace one.
What do I actually do?
Add your pool
Tell us the property and the type of barrier, such as glass, aluminium, timber or a boundary fence.
Walk around and answer each check
Mark each one Looks OK, Needs attention or Couldn't check.
Add photos and measurements
They help you, or a tradesperson, see exactly what to fix.
Read your results
You see what looks OK, what needs attention and what you couldn't check.
Fix what you can, then ask an inspector
A licensed pool safety inspector does the real inspection.
What does it check?
The checklist adapts to your barrier and follows the Queensland pool safety standard as explained in QBCC's guidance. The checks are grouped the way an inspector works around a pool:
- Fencing: height, gaps under and through the barrier, and its condition.
- Non-climbable zone: horizontal rails and anything a child could climb near the fence.
- Gates: which way they open, self-closing, self-latching and latch height.
- Windows and doors: nothing opening straight into the pool area.
- Signage: a current CPR sign that can be seen from the pool.
- General: balconies, plants and any other way a child could get in.
Where a measurement matters, a diagram shows exactly where to measure, and the app compares your figure with the rule.

Can the app look at my photos?
Yes. You can ask it to look at a photo for possible hazards, like a pot plant near the fence or a gap under a panel. It tells you how confident it is and asks for a better photo when it can't tell. It never confirms that something complies, and it can't measure from a photo or test whether a gate closes.
What do I get at the end?
Your results list what looks OK, what needs attention and what you couldn't check, and every item that needs attention becomes a to-do. Your results on screen are always complete, with no charge.
The only PDF is the detailed report. It is a one-off purchase, with the price shown incl. GST before you pay, and it has:
- a fix guide for each item
- the full checklist, with your measurements and photos
- an inspection-day sheet
- a private share link

Can I fix things myself?
Often, yes. Many common problems are simple to fix yourself, like adjusting a gate's closer, moving furniture away from the fence or putting up a CPR sign. QBCC lists repairs that don't need building approval, and work over certain values needs a licensed contractor. See what you can fix yourself.
How do I ask an inspector to visit?
As soon as you finish a self-check, a sheet opens with up to three nearby listed inspectors who take requests through PoolPreCert. Ask them all in a few taps, or close it and press Book an inspector later. Asking is not an inspection, and nothing is sent until you press Send.
If you send your report with a request, the inspector can see before they arrive what you've already looked at. You can also find a licensed inspector yourself.
If you came from a link or QR code on a listed business's own website, you do the same self-check, and that business is shown first when you choose who to ask.
Will it remind me when my certificate runs out?
Yes. Record your pool safety certificate and PoolPreCert reminds you at 60 days, 14 days and on the day, so you can book an inspector in time for a sale or a new lease. Certificates last 2 years for a non-shared pool and 1 year for a shared pool. Do you need one?

What is PoolPreCert not?
A PoolPreCert report is not a pool safety certificate and doesn't replace an inspection. It records what you check and tell it, so Looks OK means it looked fine to you on the day, not that anyone has approved your pool. Only a QBCC-licensed pool safety inspector can certify a pool.
