How pool fence contractors are ordered
Each business gets a score out of 100: distance from Highfields counts for 45, verified reviews for 35 and how complete the listing is for 20. A listing counts as more complete when the business has confirmed it, its licence was confirmed on the register in the last 90 days, and a phone or website is added. Then, among fence contractors, businesses that have confirmed their listing and ticked a pool fence service are shown before the rest, each group in score order. A verified review is one from a homeowner who asked the business for a quote through PoolPreCert and whose job the business marked booked or done; with no reviews a listing scores neutral. Listings are no charge, and payment never changes this order.
Pool rules and next steps for Highfields
Highfields is in the Toowoomba Regional council area. Its page says the council carries out compliance inspections, decides on exemptions and can issue enforcement notices and fines, and gives a phone number for pool fence questions and a way to report a concern about a pool fence. Council page: Toowoomba Regional Council: Pool safety and compliance (council page opened 23 October 2026). The rules themselves are the Queensland pool safety standard, which applies in every council area; see council pool inspections and fines.

What to ask before you hire a pool fence contractor
- Do you build and repair pool barriers, and to which standard? QBCC does not have a licence class just for pool fencing, so ask.
- Which QBCC licence do you hold, and does QBCC's register show it as current today?
- For a whole new fence, QBCC says to engage a licensed pool safety inspector before the work starts. Will you work with mine?
- Who puts up temporary fencing while sections of the old fence are removed?
- Can I have the price in writing, with GST stated?
These are questions, not a verdict on anyone. Only a licensed pool safety inspector decides whether a pool barrier meets the standard.

Check your barrier first
Run the PoolPreCert self-check to see which fence, gate and barrier items need attention, then send those items to a contractor with your request. Only a QBCC-licensed pool safety inspector can decide whether your pool meets the standard.
