Add the Website button to your website
For: Pool safety inspectors, Pool fence contractors, Pool builders · Last updated 30 October 2026
The Website button lets people check their own pool barrier and send you the result. You put a link, a QR code or a button on your website, Facebook page, email signature or a poster. It is the homeowner's own check, not an inspection.
Who it is for: Business owners and admins who have claimed their listing, have requests switched on, and have a plan or trial that includes requests.
How to do it
- Open Website button in the menu. If something is missing, the page shows one card that says what it is and the button to fix it.
- Press Set up my Website button. Your link is made from your claimed listing.
- Under Pick how your button looks, choose one of the four button texts and a colour, then press Save my button. Choose Match my site to type your own colour. Once your button is saved this card folds to one line marked Done; press Change to open it again. The Which website card folds the same way once your website is saved.
- Press Copy link and use it on Facebook, Instagram, email and anywhere you can paste a link. Download your QR code, poster or stickers if you want to print them.
- To put the button on your website, press Copy button code and paste it where you want the button. Open the guide for the website builder you use, or press Copy the message to send it to your web person. If you can't add code, use the link or QR code instead.
- Under Which website will the button be on, type your website address. We use it only to see where your button is used.
- Tick the box when you have put the link on Facebook, in your signature or on a poster. Your set-up is then complete.
The ways to use it
Your link, QR code, poster and stickers work anywhere, with nothing to install. The simple button is a plain link styled as a button. It has no script and works on almost every website.
The pop-up version (optional)
Under Put the button on your website you can choose Pop-up window (needs a script). It is the same link plus one line of code we host. On a computer it opens the check in a small window. On a phone it opens a new tab. If your website blocks scripts, the button still works as a normal link.
Some website builders put pasted code in a box of their own or block scripts. Wix and GoDaddy do this, so the pop-up may not open there. The link still works. If you are not sure, use the simple button.
Test it
After you save your website address, press Check my page under Test it. Choose one of your saved websites and, if you like, a page such as /contact. We look at that page once. We do not change anything, and we do not keep or show the page.
If we can see your link and script, you will see that you are live. If we can see your link but not the script, that is fine: it works as a normal link. If we can't see your button yet, check you pasted it on that page, saved and published. Pages can take a few minutes to update. If we couldn't open the page, it may need a login or may be blocked. Use the link or QR code instead.
You can test a few times an hour. If you see that you have tested a lot, wait an hour and try again.
Wording rules
Use the button texts we give you and do not change them. Describe the self-check as the homeowner's own check, not an inspection.
Do not say or suggest that a pool meets the standard, is OK to use or will get a certificate. Do not say QBCC, the Queensland Government or PoolPreCert has approved or endorsed you. Do not show ratings or review text next to the button.
The page and poster show your business name and licence number from your claimed listing. You cannot type them.
How to reply to a self-check
Reply to a self-check only to arrange a booking or ask a question about booking. Do not give a view on whether the pool meets the standard until you have attended; then use the certificate or the notice.
Pool fence contractors and pool builders: Reply to a self-check only to offer a quote or ask a question about the work. Never give a verdict on the pool. Only a licensed pool safety inspector can decide.
Reading the numbers
Opened is the number of times your link was opened. Started is people who made an account and began a check. Finished is people who finished a check. Sent to me is requests you received through your link. Booked is those requests you marked booked. Reviews is reviews left after those bookings.
You can look at the last 7, 30 or 90 days. These are counts only. You do not see names or contact details until a person chooses to send you a request.
If your link was opened from a website that is not on your list, the page shows its name and asks if it is yours. Press Yes, add it, or No, tell us.
Pausing
Press Pause my button to stop your business being shown to people who open your link. They can still do their own check. Press Turn back on when you are ready.
What it does not do
- It does not make the check an inspection. Only a licensed pool safety inspector can inspect a pool and issue a pool safety certificate or a nonconformity notice.
- It does not promise any visits, requests or bookings.
- It does not let you reword the button or the notice on the page.
Common questions
Do I need a website?
No. The link and QR code work on Facebook, in email signatures, on posters and on stickers.
Can I use the same link on more than one website?
Yes. Add up to five website addresses so we can show where visits come from.
PoolPreCert helps you do and record your work. It does not decide whether a pool meets the Queensland standard. Only a licensed pool safety inspector does that.
