How inspectors are ordered
Each inspector gets a score out of 100: distance from Coombabah counts for 45, verified reviews for 35 and how complete the listing is for 20. A listing counts as more complete when the inspector has confirmed it, its licence status was checked in the last 90 days, and a phone or website is added. A verified review is one from a homeowner who booked the inspector through PoolPreCert; with no reviews a listing scores neutral, and a few reviews only move it a little. Paying doesn't change this order. Sponsored listings, if any, are shown separately and labelled. Google ratings shown on a listing come straight from Google Maps, for inspectors who have linked their Google listing, and are not part of the score.
Before the inspector comes
These are some of the main things an inspector checks. Look at them yourself, or run the full self-check in the PoolPreCert app.
- Every pool gate swings shut by itself from any open position and latches without a push.
- The barrier is at least 1200 mm high all the way around, with no gap under it bigger than 100 mm.
- Nothing a child could climb (chairs, pots, barbecues, trees) is within 900 mm of the outside of the fence.
- No door from the house opens straight into the pool area.
- A current CPR sign is displayed where people near the pool can see it.
